A native of Hong Kong, Helen managed to establish herself in a film industry within a very short time period, depicting expressionism and surreal styles of art in a very distinctive way. She launched her career in Atlanta in the year 2019 and shortly became a film production designer, building her peculiar visual way of telling stories.

By March 2023, Helen had finished her Master's in Film Directing and subsequently relocated to Los Angeles to find more and greater opportunities within music videos and commercial directing. So, this wasn't about a change of locale; it was quite a move toward manifesting creative aspirations. For Helen, Los Angeles was full of artistic growth and collaboration with fellow creatives.

Most of those had to do with securing budgets that would allow her to really do her thing: Be a real director. Helen reflects, "The biggest struggle's finding artists who can give me a reasonable budget to direct a proper music video and really show what I can do." Despite these obstacles, her desire to create great art never wavered. She often had to work on a shoestring budget, cadging help from friends, and occasionally financing projects out of pocket. If that wasn't crippled enough, she rose to the challenge and started finding creative solutions and artistic expressions within these constraints.

Helen's work is characterized by its incomparable sense of humor, curiosity, and surrealism. Her ideas on personal experiences transform moments usually negative into captivating visual art. This is where she feels her gift really lies: taking challenges and then turning them into creativity. She attributes this to her ADHD, by which she can glue together ideas that appear unrelated and come up with new ones. "I love my ability to think out of the box," Helen says. "It allows me to connect concepts that seem unrelated and come up with innovative ideas." This quirky thinking style was to resonate with audiences worldwide and is what makes her work so exciting and different.

Helen has been very successful despite the fact that she is in the industry for quite a short time. Since 2023, Helen's works have been selected to 41 film festivals. Within just a few months, she became a nominee for Best Director at the 2024 Southeast Student Emmy Awards and won five Telly Awards. Indeed, these prove her talent and creative vision, nudging her to explore many more fields of creativity.

Helen wants to become a video director whose works comfort and give joy to audiences. She finds herself making videos that people feel uplifted by and that people come back to time and time again for that very reason. " I want my music videos to be something that people find comfort or joy in, videos that people watch more than once," says she. For this, she envisions her collaboration with artists who hold with them the passion to push music into better pieces as powerful visual storytelling.

Helen has a soft spot for teamwork; she enjoys working closely with filmmakers and artists who have the same amount of adventure and dedication to craft. "I look for filmmakers who are passionate, adventurous—someone who wants to start from scratch with me," she elaborated. In such surroundings, full of people like this, Helen could piece together into a masterpiece reflecting the collective passion and determination.

Aside from her career in directing, Helen is building up a production company called San San, which focuses on the ability to reinvent unfavorable energy into art as something positive. This was therefore a mission dear to Helen's heart, since she has deep faith in the way visual arts affect social and mental well-being. San San represents Helen's resolution to nonconformity and the desire to execute work of the same measure—life-changing.

It's when she sees the effect her work has on people that an artist like Helen gets fulfilled. "Most satisfying of all," she says, "is watching how my work affects people." Helen attaches a message to each of her pieces, and this, for her, is her way of contributing to the world. "Being able to see what I have done and being able to help people in the world, it allows me to create more," she concludes.
